KB00233 - Upgrading to FTR Gold 5.6.1

Service Pack 1 upgrades version 5.6 to 5.6.1. As such, the upgrade is applied by inserting the version 5.6.1 installation disc and following the prompts. Most settings will be preserved though you should check that the product is working as required after upgrading.

It is important that all FTR products on a computer are upgraded at the same time.

Guidelines

The guidelines differ, depending on the presence of installed editions of The Record Manager.

I DO NOT HAVE any of the following products installed with FTR Gold products:
TheRecord Manager - Access Edition
TheRecord Manager - Guardian Edition
TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Edition

Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for each installed FTR Product.
• Insert the disc and follow the prompts

I HAVE one or both of the following products installed with FTR Gold products:
TheRecord Manager - Access Edition
TheRecord Manager - Guardian Edition
Note: If you also have any components of TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Edition installed, please follow the instructions in this section and the next section.

Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for each of the installed editions of TheRecord Manager.
• Insert each installation disc and follow the prompts.
  Note: The installation disc for each edition of TheRecord Manager, upgrades any installed FTR Gold product at the same time as TheRecord Manager is updated.

I HAVE one or more of the following components of TheRecord Manager Warehouse Edition installed:
Warehouse Client
Warehouse Server
Replication Server

Warehouse Client Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Edition.
• Insert the disc in each computer on which the client has previously been installed.
• Run the Install TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Client setup program and follow the prompts.
  Note: The Client setup program, upgrades any installed FTR Gold product at the same time as TheRecord Manager is updated.

Warehouse Server Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Edition.
• Insert the disc in the Warehouse Server computer.
• Run the Install TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Server setup program.
• When prompted to install the database SELECT NO.
• Follow the remaining prompts.
  Note: The upgrade will recreate and/or reset the default "FTR Content" folder. If you have previously modified permissions, please reapply the changes when the upgrade is complete.

Replication Server Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for TheRecord Manager - Warehouse Edition.
• Insert the disc in the computer you wish to upgrade.
• Run the Install TheRecord Manager - Replication Server setup program.
• Follow the prompts.

I HAVE FTR Reporter Server Installed.

Instructions:

• Obtain the installation disc for FTR Reporter Server.
  Note: You will need your original version 5.6 serial number and activation code.
• Insert the disc in the computer you wish to upgrade.
• Follow the prompts.
